Simonsen joined the Blades on an initial one-month loan deal on Friday but, with his contract due to expire in the summer, it was anticipated the move could be made permanent.[LNB]That possibility appears to have been instantly dismissed, however, by Simonsen's signing of a new one-year contract until the summer of 2011.[LNB]That will take the 30-year-old into a seventh season at the Britannia Stadium and Pulis is delighted to have secured the services of a goalkeeper, despite making third choice, he rates highly.[LNB]He said in the Stoke Sentinel: "We have wanted to have three senior goalkeepers on the books for some time and obviously we know all about Steve's qualities.[LNB]"Steve has done well whenever called upon, often at short notice, and I'm more than happy to have a player of his experience and ability hanging around the place.[LNB]"With three keepers to hand, we will have the option to send one out next season, but with an instant recall option just in case.[LNB]"We've taken chances at times with just two goalkeepers this season and you can't keep doing that and getting away with it."[LNB][LNB]
