Sheffield United keeper Paddy Kenny bids to overturn nine-month drug ban

Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has launched an appeal against his nine-month ban for failing a drugs test. The 31-year-old tested positive for the banned substance ephedrine after last season's play-off win against Preston. Kenny, who has not been allowed to train with any football club since the summer due to FIFA rules, will have his appeal heard in 10 days' time. The Blades keeper has the backing of the players' union, the Professional Footballers Association, in an attempt to get his ban reduced. If he is unsuccessful, he will only be available for the final two Coca-Cola Championship games of the season.
