Sheffield United 3-3 Burnley: Report

16 October 2010 19:30
Mark Yeates' capped a superb performance with a last-gasp strike as Sheffield United rescued a late point in a 3-3 draw following an action-packed finale against Burnley. Burnley had looked on the way to three points after Jay Rodriguez's 90th-minute strike put them ahead for the second time in the match. The Clarets raced into a two-goal lead early in the second half after goals from Dean Marney and Chris Eagles, but they were countered by Daniel Bogdanovic and Ched Evans as a 2-2 draw looked likely. But the game exploded late on with Rodriguez's strike, which was cancelled out four minutes into injury time by Yeates' low effort, topping off a man-of-the-match display. United boss Gary Speed, who is enduring a difficult start to life as a manager, will be relieved with a point, but a fourth game without a win will still be of concern with a long winter looking on the cards. Clarets manager Brian Laws, who used to manage across the city at Wednesday, is left to rue to dropped points on his return to Sheffield and they remain winless on the road, slipping out of the play-off places.
