John Fleck still banned for Blades

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck serves the final game of his three-match suspension when Sunderland visit on Boxing Day.

Fleck was sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Bristol City earlier this month and will complete his ban against the Black Cats.

Attacker David Brooks is suffering with tonsillitis and will spend Christmas at home.

Defender Kieron Freeman (knee) and striker Ched Evans (ankle) both remain sidelined, along with midfielder Paul Coutts who has broken his leg.

Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson has a groin injury.

Boss Chris Coleman took him off late against Birmingham on Saturday in a bid to manage the problem and it remains to be seen if he will be involved.

Didier Ndong could step up if not while Lee Cattermole is available despite being left out against City.

Bryan Oviedo (knee) was on the bench on Saturday and could play a part.
