Sheffield United boss Nigel Adkins has no new problems for visit of Scunthorpe

Sheffield United manager Nigel Adkins has no new problems to contend with ahead of the Blades' final game of the season against his former club Scunthorpe.

Adkins has a handful of players nursing minor knocks but nothing that should affect his team selection on Sunday, when the Iron will be hoping to gatecrash the play-offs.

"Going into the final game of the season you're going to have one or two niggles but everyone wants to put themselves forward and it's a game we're looking forward to and a game we all know the importance of from Scunthorpe's point of view, Barnsley's point of view, Gillingham's point of view and more importantly from our own point of view," said Adkins.

The absence of Dean Hammond at Coventry last weekend brought a first change to the Blades starting line-up for six matches as Ben Whiteman came in. The teenager was one of seven academy players in the squad against the Sky Blues and many of the youngsters are likely to be included again on Sunday.

Five straight wins have given Graham Alexander's Scunthorpe hope of muscling in on the play-off positions on the final day of the regular season.

If the Iron better Barnsley's result away to champions-elect Wigan, or match it and improve their goal difference sufficiently, they will book an improbable place in the top six despite having struggled to find consistent form for much of the campaign.

Sean McAllister is pushing to return for the first time since December after missing out on a projected comeback in last week's win over Port Vale.

Gary McSheffrey is expected to miss out again with a knee injury, while Scott Wiseman and Jim O'Brien also remain sidelined.
