Sheffield United striker Caolan Lavery set to feature against Port Vale

Sheffield United striker Caolan Lavery is expected to return to the squad for the home game against Port Vale.

Lavery has yet to start for the Blades following his summer switch from Sheffield Wednesday and has missed the last two matches due to an ankle injury.

Chris Basham sits out the final game of his three-match ban, so John Fleck is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up.

Midfielder Louis Reed is hoping to force his way back into the squad following his recent appearances for England Under-20s as the Blades bid to make it eight unbeaten in the league.

Port Vale welcome back Paulo Tavares. The midfielder served a one-game suspension while his team-mates grabbed a 1-0 win over MK Dons last time out.

Striker Anton Forrester continues to sit out with a hamstring problem, but Quentin Pereira improved his chances of a call-up after scoring a hat-trick for the reserves in midweek.

Defender Nathan Smith has been ever present this season and should continue that run at Bramall Lane.
