Hamstring doubt for Blade Kitson

Sheffield United striker Dave Kitson is doubtful for the home game with Crawley due to a hamstring strain.

Kitson was replaced at half-time in Saturday's draw at Walsall and replaced by Chris Porter, who is expected to start if the former Reading and Stoke forward fails to make it.

Defender Tony McMahon will sit out the second game of his two-match ban, so Matt Hill is likely to continue at right-back.

Centre-half Neill Collins is hoping to recover from a calf strain in time, while winger Ryan Flynn remains doubtful with the ankle injury that kept him out at the weekend.

Teenage midfielder Callum McFadzean is pushing for his first league start after playing the last 30 minutes at Walsall.

The Blades are six points behind second-placed Bournemouth with three games in hand.

Crawley will check on Josh Simpson and Matt Sparrow ahead of the trip.

Skipper Simpson missed Saturday's goalless draw at MK Dons with an ankle injury and fellow midfielder Sparrow was sidelined by a hamstring problem.

Boss Richie Barker will assess the duo prior to kick-off with Dannie Bulman and Mike Jones set to continue in midfield if they are ruled out again.

Barker made a third change to his starting line-up at the weekend with Connor Essam replacing Mark Connolly at the back, and the former Gillingham centre-half may have done enough to keep his place.

Defender Kyle MacFadzean is the only definite absentee as he battles back to fitness after a virus.
