Baxter in Blades fitness fight

Sheffield United midfielder Jose Baxter is battling to be fit for his side's home game against Chesterfield.

Baxter missed the midweek Capital One Cup win at Morecambe due to an ankle injury sustained in Saturday's opening-day defeat at Gillingham.

Winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce (hamstring) has yet to feature this season and although he has returned to training remains doubtful, while more changes can be expected for the Blades' opening home game of the season.

Manager Nigel Adkins made seven changes to his starting line-up in midweek and the likes of goalkeeper George Long, Neill Collins, who stepped off the bench to head a late winner, Che Adams and Jamie Murphy are all in contention.

Mani Dieseruvwe begins a three-match ban for Chesterfield after his red card in the cup at Carlisle.

Fellow striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and right-back Drew Talbot will go straight back into the starting line-up after being rested on Tuesday night.

Despite having to play half-an-hour of extra-time with 10 men in Cumbria, following Dieseruvwe's dismissal, Spireites boss Dean Saunders insists his players are not tired and everyone is available for the short trip to Bramall Lane.

Jake Orrell impressed from the bench in midweek and the teenage forward might have forced his way into Saunders' thinking ahead of Saturday.
