Doyle in race against time

Sheffield United captain Michael Doyle is expected to shake off a knock in time to face Burton in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

Doyle was forced out of Friday night's home win over Notts County and is being monitored, but should be okay to feature.

Otherwise, boss David Weir has no new injury or suspension problems. Defender Tony McMahon (ankle), who missed the win over Notts County, is back in training but not yet match fit.

Summer signings Conor Coady, onloan from Liverpool, and striker Lyle Taylor could start after stepping off the substitutes' bench on Friday, while another recent recruit, Sean McGinty, defender Matt Hill and midfielder Ryan Flynn are all in contention.

Lee Bell returns to the reckoning for Burton when they travel to Bramall Lane.

Bell completed a four-match suspension carried over from last season as Albion began the new campaign with a 2-2 draw at Cheltenham on Saturday and he will compete for a place in manager Gary Rowett's midfield. However, summer signing Rene Howe will continue to serve his ban carried over from last season.

Fellow striker Billy Kee has a sore thigh so Michael Symes could start, while new arrival Adam McGurk is expected to go straight into the squad after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal on Monday.

Centre-half Zander Diamond will remain unavailable after damaging a ligament in his foot during training last week.
