Davies in Blades frame

Sheffield United's latest loan signing Ben Davies is hoping to make his first start for the club in the home game against Bristol City.

The Derby midfielder arrived in time to step off the substitutes' bench in the midweek win at Gillingham and could be handed a full debut if boss Nigel Clough opts to utilise his squad.

The Blades face their third game in seven days against City and play Colchester on Tuesday, so midfielder Stefan Scougall and winger Jamie Murphy could both be recalled to the starting line-up.

Defender John Brayford faces a late test on an unspecified muscle injury which forced him to miss out on Tuesday night.

Bristol City have no fresh injury worries as they look to make it four games unbeaten.

Boss Steve Cotterill admitted his side looked exhausted during their 2-2 draw with Tranmere last weekend and hopes a few days rest will leave his side refreshed and ready to pick up all three points at Bramall Lane.

Midfielders Liam Kelly and Stephen Pearson continue to build up to full fitness after long lay-offs and will feature for the club's under-21s again on Monday night.

Cotterill will also be without Marvin Elliott and Scott Wagstaff who are both facing long spells on the sidelines after suffering serious injuries.
