Loan players are often criticised for 'not caring' when times are bad at a football club, but Shane Lowry, on loan from Aston Villa, insists he's 'hurting' at the Blades' predicament... The Australian defender has been a regular starter for Micky Adams since arriving on a temporary basis in January, and he is determined to beat the drop with the Blades. The 21-year-old, who faces his old employers Leeds United tomorrow (Saturday), emphasises that he's 'hurting' at the moment, and concedes that lady luck hasn't been on the Blades' side, and that the blame should be apportioned on the team. He said: "We aren't in a nice place and to have only won one game this year obviously isn't going to be enough, but we aren't going to give up we will keep fighting and I still think we can get out of trouble. "Despite the blip at Watford the togetherness is still there and we know if we perform to the best of abilities we have a realistic chance. "We haven't had the rub of the green at times but we can't blame the referees for the position we are in. We have made individual errors and red cards have made life hard at times, including mine at Scunthorpe but I have learnt from that. "You can go from being on top of the world like after the Forest game then come crashing back down to earth at Watford." Lowry is adamant that United can claw their way out of the dreaded drop zone, and knows that a few wins stringed together can catapult the Blades up the table. He continued: "We can still get out of the relegation places, just look how Portsmouth moved up the league from near the bottom with six wins on the bounce - when we played there we were the better side so we must believe. "This is good experience for me. Sheffield United is a massive club and the fans are brilliant. They back you both home and away, despite the results, and they are our 12th man which can give the players a lift. "I am a team player, the team winning is the most important thing and that comes first, not what I do. If we get out of this trouble then it would be a great achievement. "Morgs has been a great help, getting involved behind the scenes and trying to help all the lads. I can only learn from people like him because he has been a great servant for Sheffield United and we have missed him this season. "Some people might think loan players aren't bothered but I came here to help so it is the opposite for me. I am hurting and determined not to go down." Image copyright to Action Images
