Ian Holloway's Blackpool will provide Sheffield United with their final test ahead of the 2011/2012 League One campaign... United confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that the Tangerines will visit Bramall Lane on Sunday 31st July to close the Blades' warm-up clashes. Danny Wilson is trying to prepare for third tier football in the best possible way, and he reveals the thinking of bringing Blackpool to Bramall Lane, as well as Doncaster Rovers. He said: "We've selected Doncaster and Blackpool for good reason. Both are well known for playing attractive football - similar to the way I want us to play - and therefore it will be a good barometer." Pool were relegated from the Barclays Premier League last season after finishing one point away from safety. Their last visit to Bramall Lane was a nasty one as far as they're concerned, as the Blades ran out 3:0 winners, a game which included goal just 42 seconds in. The fixture with the Lancashire outfit coincides with the Blades' annual Open Day. The organised similar preparations last year when Argentine side Estudiantes came to the Lane on the same day as the popular Open Day - with the Blades winning 1:0, incidentally. Meanwhile, Maltese side Sliema Wanderers have also been confirmed as opponents for the Blades whilst they're on a tour of the Mediterranean island. United' pre-season preparations have now been finalised: Saturday 9th July - Sheffield FC (A) - 3:00pm Tuesday 12th July - Worksop Town (A) - 7:45pm Monday 18th July - Sliema Wanderers (A) - 6:30pm* Wednesday 20th July - Hibernians (A) - 6:30pm* Tuesday 26th July - Doncaster Rovers (H) - 7:45pm Sunday 31st July - Blackpool (H) - 3:00pm *Part of the Blades' Maltese tour Image copyright to Action Images
