Scottish-themed pre-season

Sheffield United's pre-season campaign is beginning to take shape as the final touches to the friendlies are currently been made...

With full attention understandably being on United's prospective manager, the club has been finalising their preparations for United's warm-up games before the Football League season gets back into full flow August 3rd.

The friendlies which have reported in various areas of the press has seen a Scottish orientation.

*Greenock Morton are likely to be United's first pre-season opponents at Cappielow Park on Wednesday 3rd July, 7:45pm kick-off.

*Cowdenbeath confirmed on their Twitter page that they are to face the Blades at Central Park on Saturday 6th July, 3:00pm start.

*Wednesday 10th July sees United travel to Kirkcaldy to face Raith Rovers at Stark's Park, 7:30pm kick-off.

All three sides ply their trade in Scotland's First Division.

*United are to keep their preparations for the 13/14 season up north but a little closer to home in the shape of Nigel Worthington's York City.

*The Blades are also reportedly arranging a fixture with SPL oufit Aberdeen at Pittodrie, who signed former United midfielder Barry Robson earlier this week. A date is still to be agreed.

*PLEASE NOTE that all of these fixtures are awaiting confirmation from the club.

United won't be flying to the Mediterranean island of Malta this year.
