Love, not hate, won the night as Wayne Routledge celebrated with a kiss after setting Queens Park Rangers on their way to victory and the brink of promotion.[LNB]The gesture was far more appropriate than the crude outburst by the other Wayne R at the weekend.[LNB] Ball player: Adel Taarabt (right) shrugs off Blades David McAllister's challenge[LNB]Double scorer Routledge had every reason to be overjoyed. Rangers need just three more wins to secure a return to the Premier League after a 15-year absence thanks to his goals in either half and Alejandro Faurlin's 52nd-minute strike.[LNB]By contrast, their visitors may now need double that if they are to avoid dropping into England's third tier for the first time since 1989 and joining neighbours Wednesday.[LNB]Rangers were almost caught out on 28 minutes but Darius Henderson's header bounced into the arms of Paddy Kenny. From there, Rangers escaped upfield. Faurlin sprayed the ball wide to Heidar Helguson whose cross fell at the feet of Routledge to sidefoot home a low volley from 12 yards.[LNB] At the double: Alejandro Faurlin (out of picture) is mobbed by his team-mates after scoring Rangers second[LNB]An equaliser might have arrived following a rare piece of United ingenuity. Daniel Bogdanovic met a corner sweetly on the volley but couldn't force it through a forest of legs at the near post.[LNB]At the other end, Bradley Orr almost scored a careerdefining goal. Drifting inside two defenders, he curled an exquisite left-foot shot inches wide of the far post.[LNB]United manager Micky Adams roused his side for the second half and Bogdanovic should have done better than scoop a shot over from 10 yards.[LNB] Three-sy does it: Routledge scores his second and Rangers third[LNB]Again the visitors were left to rue their wastefulness. Adel Taarabt's corner ricocheted around the Sheffield area before falling into the path of Faurlin who sent an unerring finish past Steve Simonsen.[LNB]When Routledge struck again with 25 minutes left, angling a grass-cutting shot into the far corner, victory was assured. The winger would have had a hat-trick had it not been for a wonderful instinctive low save by Simonsen.
