Phillips, 20 was a £325,000 signing for the Seasiders from Wycombe Wanderers in August 2010 and to date has featured in 33 league games for the Bloomfield Road – mostly in the Premier League.
He is expected to join the Blades on loan from the Lancashire club in time to face Wednesday in the Steel City Derby this Sunday (kick-off: 12:00).
Meanwhile defender Marcus Williams, 25 has had his loan move extended by a further month and the club have also learned that Reading have agreed to a permanent deal once the transfer window re-opens in January.
