`Kick in the teeth` for Speed

Gary Speed admitted his side had suffered a "kick in the teeth" as a controversial late penalty saw them leave with a point in a 2-2 draw against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium. Two first-half goals from Mark Yeates had put the Blades in front after Paul Gallagher opened the scoring for Leicester early on. But the hosts rescued a point through Steve Howard's injury-time spot-kick after Yeates had been penalised for handball by referee Phil Gibbs. Speed said: "I would rather talk about the players' performance than the referee. We were excellent again, especially after a poor start, but once again it has cost us. "It will be a big test for us now at Millwall on Saturday. The players need to stand up and be counted because that was a right kick in the teeth. We have to be strong and make sure it doesn't affect us." On the penalty, Speed added: "Their guy has headed the ball at Mark and it has hit the top of his chest. His hand is up but the ball has hit him on the chest. "Matty Lowton has kicked the ball out and he (the referee) still hasn't given it, but then he has a brainstorm and gives it. It wasn't a penalty. I would say it was a home decision, but we don't get them at home."
