Oxford United boss Chris Wilder has emerged as current favourite to succeed Danny Wilson as Sheffield United manager.

Wilder, 45 played over 100 games for Sheffield United as a player in two different spells between 1986-92 and 1998-99 and following a career into management with Alfreton Town, Halifax Town and joining Oxford United in 2008 enjoyed success with the U’s when he won promotion to the Football League in 2010.

There have been many names thrown into the managerial hat to succeed Danny Wilson, including; Neil Warnock, Stuart McCall (Motherwell), Graham Arnold (Central Coast Mariners), Keith Curle and Russell Slade (Leyton Orient) to name a few but it seems that Wilder looks to be favourite and could be installed as the new man at the helm within the week.
