Sheffield United and Barnsley have both lost out on the race to sign former Coventry City defender Elliott Ward with newly promoted Norwich City announcing the signing yesterday. Ward, 25 was a free agent after being released by the Sky Blues and it was understood that the defender was close to coming to Bramall Lane - as announced on Blades-Mad yesterday morning. It was also believed that he held talks with fellow Npower side Barnsley over a possible move to the Oakwell club. However it emerged on canariers.co.uk; the official site of Norwich City that he had put pen to paper on a two year deal at Carrow Road.On the capture of the defender, City boss Paul Lambert said: "He's played at a higher level and in big games for West Ham and has good experience of the Championship."He's a good age, has stature and presence at the back and comes with good pedigree and he'll hopefully do well with us."
