Davies blow adds to Blades' gloom

Manager Kevin Blackwell was without 10 first-team players for Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Scunthorpe - and could only name six substitutes on the bench - and now Davies, who collided with the hoardings at Glanford Park, has been added to the list. Blackwell must decide whether to start with unsettled defender Matthew Kilgallon, who he replaced on Saturday on the grounds that his form has been affected by the current contract row. Summer signing Jonathan Fortune was on the bench against Scunthorpe and could be ready to make his first appearance following a ruptured Achilles if Blackwell opts to rest Kilgallon. Jamie Ward (broken wrist), Richard Cresswell (ribs), Lee Williamson (back), Derek Geary, Gary Naysmith, James Harper, Montgomery (all knee) and Paddy Kenny (drugs ban) are all sidelined.
