Sheffield United became a number of clubs to make a safe passage into the fourth round of the FA Cup and have been handed ball number 25 in the hat. That means that our league fixture with Preston North End is postponed.

The Blades were scheduled to face Preston North End at Bramall Lane on Saturday, 18th February 2012 but due to the clubs involvement in the fourth round this tie will be moved.

Liverpool were the first team through to the next round; beating Oldham Athletic 4-1 at Anfield whilst the Midlands Derby between Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers ended goalless with an exciting replay at Molineux to be expected.

Locally; Doncaster Rovers were bundled out at the Keepmoat against Nott's County (0-2) whilst Barnsley were defeat by Premiership opposition Swansea City at Oakwell, though they went down fighting - losing 4-2 after taking a one goal lead. Across the City Sheffield Wednesday face West Ham United at Hillsborough today whilst Leeds United travel to Arsenal on Monday. With local ties yet to be decided it leaves only Danny Wilson's Blades as the only Yorkshire side left in the competition.

There were of course the usual shocks with Crawley Town beating Bristol City and Swindon Town humiliating Wigan Athletic at the County Ground, whilst Macclesfield Town earned a 2-2 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers.

The most anticipated tie of the round will be at Eastlands today were Manchester City host rivals Manchester United live on ITV and is quickly followed by Peterborough United vs. Sunderland at London Road were the draw for the fourth round will be made following the conclusion of these two games.
