League Two outfit Northampton Town completed the full signing of former Sheffield United midfielder Matt Harriott after the 20 had been released by the Bramall Lane club in the summer. He had initially been signed by Kevin Blackwell from hometown club Luton Town and it's with the Blades were he made his first team debut in an FA Cup defeat at home to Aston Villa in January 2011.Harriott spent loan spells at Burton Albion and Alfreton Town but failed to make any impact and this summer was allowed to leave the S2 club and now joins Sixfield Stadium on a free transfer. Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd said; "Matty will increase the competition in central midfield. He is strong, he can be physical and he has a good engine. He can play as well and he is really hungry and desperate to be given a chance. "He did well for us in pre-season and I think he will be a good addition."
