Clough Set For Blades Post

22 October 2013 08:56
Former Burton Albion and Derby County manager Nigel Clough is expected to be unveiled as the new manager of Sheffield United soon and could take charge of the Blades home fixture with Crewe Alexandra next Saturday...

Clough, 47 was relieved of his managerial duties at Derby County last week and following the dismissal of David Weir was introduced a firm favourite to take over the lead role at Bramall Lane. However due to technicalities is unable to sign for another club until any compensation package is agreed between himself and DCFC.It is understood that a settlement is imminent and with him witnessing Crewe's one-nil victory over Bristol City last Saturday it is fully expected that he will be the Blades boss before the weekend. United of course travel to Peterborough United tonight. With him he is likely to bring in a back-room staff of; Andy Garner, Johnny Metgood, Gary Crosby and Martin Taylor who are all likely to join him.During his playing days he had a very brief spell with rivals Sheffield Wednesday, he will no doubt hope he isn't handed the same frosty reception which confronted Danny Wilson upon his appointment.
