Boateng Moves Out

Sheffield United Academy starlet Michael Boateng has joined non-leaguers AFC Emley on loan until the new year.

Boateng, a third year scholar with United has joined West Yorkshire outfit AFC Emley who operate in the Northern Counties East League and will stay with the Pewits until 1 January 2014.Academy boss Nick Cox told sufc.co.uk; "This is a good move for Michael, Sheffield United and Emley, who we have worked closely with in recent months. As a third-year scholar Michael is unfortunately too old to play for our youth-team and with competition for games with our U21s high, this provides the lad with a chance to get out and hopefully play football regularly."It is a move Michael needs, because as with a lot of scholars, he currently has no experience of playing on a Saturday afternoon where three points are at stake, with an expectant crowd in attendance. The only way to get these lads this experience in order to further their development is to get them out there playing non-league matches."The midfielder joined the Blades in July 2013 having previously played for Hansworth FC and could make his Emley debut at Dronfield Town this Saturday. They are currently 6th in the table having won four out of their previous five matches.
