Blades to take time over Blackwell replacement

Sheffield United insist they will not rush their search for a successor to Kevin Blackwell. Blackwell left his post as manager by mutual consent on Saturday evening following a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Bramall Lane. In an official club statement released on Sunday, chief executive Trevor Birch said: "Further to yesterday's announcement we once more thank Kevin for his contribution over the last two and a half years. "The club now has to move on. We remain passionate and committed to achieving promotion and believe the change of management will assist in that quest. "The board will not rush the next move and further discussions will take place during the course of today and tomorrow to consider Kevin's successor."
