Blades star on the verge of new deal

One of Sheffield United's better players from the horrendous 2010/2011 campaign, Matt Lowton, is to officially pledge his future to the club before the new season begins... The versatile 22-year-old, who enjoyed personal success by gaining 21 starts and 11 substitute appearances under three different managers, is to delight Blades fans by commiting his services to SUFC in the near future. Lowton can play at right-back, centre-back and right-midfield, but usually operates in the right-back position. After having a monumental campaign last season, Lowton is a key player for the Blades if their ambition of promotion is to be realised.  "We are close to agreeing and I'm delighted," said Lowton. "I've been here since the age of 15 and have loved it. "Last season was big for me, personally, and a longer deal gives me the extra security to continue to progress."
