Blades leave it late

Lee Williamson struck a controversial stoppage-time equaliser for Sheffield United to prevent his patched-up side crashing to a third straight defeat and deny Derby a rare away win in the Coca-Cola Championship this season. Blades midfielder Williamson slammed home a cross from Mark Yeates on the edge of the penalty area in the 91st minute to make it 1-1 after Lancashire referee had failed to see Derby manager Nigel Clough's attempts to send on substitute Russell Anderson. Robbie Savage appeared to have secured Derby back-to-back league wins after last week's home success over Nottingham Forest, the Rams midfielder sweeping home a low shot from outside the penalty area in the 17th minute. Savage found himself in space 25 yards from goal and had time enough to unleash a low right-footed shot beyond home goalkeeper Mark Bunn into the bottom corner. But Clough's side, who started the day in 18th place and only six points above the relegation zone, were denied by Williamson after dominating against a Blades outfit depleted by injuries. As Derby appeared to comfortably held on, Williamson pounced on Yeates' ball in to fire home into the bottom corner.
