Blades boosted by stadium news

The Blades' plans to develop the Kop end of the stadium, increasing capacity by 5,000, have already been approved and new proposals for an additional tier of seating in the South Stand and new exhibition and conference facilities will go before Sheffield City Council planners next Monday.[LNB]United's executive director Jason Rockett said: "This is the latest stage in our long-term strategy to drive our off-the-field income to deliver a sustainable business which can support further investment in the first-team squad.[LNB]"These proposals have the added benefit of bringing us in line with FIFA requirements at a time when we are proudly supporting Sheffield's bid to be host city in England's application to stage the 2018 World Cup."[LNB]Earlier this year the Blades received the go-ahead from the city council for the redevelopment of the Kop which will include additional seating, the removal of columns, a new concourse, new executive boxes, community and educational facilities and improved services for disabled supporters in the Evolution Corner Stand.[LNB][LNB]
