Trevor Birch has stepped down from his role as the club's Chief Executive... The relinquishment of Birch's job as the CEO comes just a day after it was announced that Micky Adams had been relieved of his duties. Birch, 53, who was named as the Blades' Chief Executive one-and-a-half-years ago, was partly responsible for the appointments of Gary Speed and Micky Adams. He will, though, still remain at the club as a consultant on a short-term basis. In a statement of the official website, it states: 'Over the next two or three months, Mr Birch will assist the Blades with its player trading, as well as the reorganisation and re-shaping of the club.' Kevin McCabe, the club's owner, also added:: "Trevor's considerable contacts and experience will help us as we re-shape the football club and focus on our transfer dealings."
