Adams laments referee

Referee Andy Haines came in for some stick from Blades manager Micky Adams after Norwich's 1:2 victory at Bramall Lane on Saturday... Haines failed to spot a clear push on United defender Kyle Bartley in the lead up to Norwich's first goal, and then further controversy arose when Ched Evans was 'barged' over just before the Canaries struck their second and restored their lead after the aforementioned Evans equalised for the Blades between Andrew Crofts' double. Without sounding like bad losers, it's twice this season a referee has favoured Norwich when the two sides met at Carrow Road and at Bramall Lane on Saturday. Earlier this season City were awarded two penalties and United had Stephen Quinn sent off by referee P Crossley in a spicy encounter. Adams bemoaned: "I really don't like managers blaming referees every time things go wrong for them but on this occasion I feel we have lost the game because of two bad decisions - we could have drawn or even won and the lads didn't get the reward they deserved. "For the first goal Kyle Bartley was clearly tripped before the ball went out for a corner, and from that Steve Simonsen was fouled before the ball went in the net. "We fought back into the match but then, for the second, Ched Evans was pushed - not pushed, barged - as he made a clearance and it should have been given as a foul for us. "It is very frustrating for everyone connected with Sheffield United because that was probably the best we have played since I came here and I think we were unlucky to come away with nothing. "The lads are rightly upset but I am encouraged by a lot of what I saw from them; we caused them more problems than they caused us and it is hard to choose any individual who didn't play well. "We had a bit of quality at times and an edge to us right from the start which allowed us get a tempo to our game that helps us play at pace for longer, and keep the opposition further up the pitch. "At half-time the lads were buzzing about how they had done and I told them that all they needed was the icing on the cake, a goal, because they had won tackles, passed the ball better and made chances." Adams finished: "I know some fans will say 'that is another defeat, Adams' but I will show the lads strong leadership - and next week it could be ugly on the training pitch because we have to start putting wins on the board. "In terms of bringing new players in I think we could make a couple of additions, starting with a permanent signing maybe on Monday. I won't give anything away on name, position or club but it is common knowledge that I am looking to add some experience." Image copyright to Action Images
