Argentine big boys Estudiantes are planned to arrive in Sheffield this (Thursday) evening ahead of their pre-season match with Sheffield United... All at Sheffield United appreciate Estudiantes accepting our invitation to face us on Sunday 1st August 2010, the same day as the club's Open Day. The Aregntine giants, who touch down in England tonight, will undergo their first training session on English soil tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, with a press conference also planned. Juan Sebastian Veron, the ex Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder, was quoted when younger 'it's my dream to play for Sheffield United.' The 35-year-old's World Cup campaign ended earlier this month and has been granted a few weeks on the beach, but there is still the possibility that he will make an appearance at Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane. His father, Juan Ramon Veron, an ex Estudiantes de La Plata player himself, is making the 7,000 mile trip to Bramall Lane as a club ambassador. Juan Sebastian was gifted a Sheffield United shirt in Argentina a short while ago, and he appreciated the gesture by saying 'thanks'. Alex Sabella, a former Blades midfielder, is, of course, Estudiantes' manager, and his connection with the Blades helped trigger the relationship between the two clubs. Sunday's match gets underway at 4:00PM.
