A goal eludes Johnny

Johnny Ertl admits he couldn't sleep Saturday night after seeing his header strike Leeds' crossbar in the dying embers of last weekend's derby... He wasn't signed by former manager Kevin Blackwell to score the Blades goals, but Johnny Ertl could and probably should be Sheffield United's top goalscorer with three goals. The Austrian had no excuses for fluffing a great chance at Derby County at the start of this month, he then had a goal strangely chalked off by the referee in our home clash with Scunthorpe, and then his header in the 93rd minute at Elland Road on Saturday rebounded off the woodwork. Speaking about the elusive goal and his targets for this season, he said: "We were unlucky against Leeds because we played very well, especially in the second-half, and we created some chances, going close to scoring an equaliser at the end, but that is football. "I was very disappointed not to see my header go in and I couldn't sleep on Saturday night. It was a Yorkshire derby, in front of a big crowd and in my opinion we deserved at least a point. I couldn't believe it when my header hit the crossbar and bounced back into play because it was inches from going in. "My Scunthorpe goal was ruled out so I am still waiting for my first Blades goal, but the most important thing is we start scoring goals as a team. It doesn't really matter who scores them and maybe our luck is about to change. "I set myself targets all the time and I want to score four goals this season, but if I only get two and we manage to get into the top six then I will be more than happy." Ertl knows a positive result at Forest tonight can swing things in a different direction. He finished: "This league is so tight take we know that anyone can beat anyone and we must respond positively at Nottingham Forest because the table is so compacted. "The games are so intense and at the moment we seem to be winning or losing 1-0." The image used on this article is copyright to Action Images and SportBox.TV
