French coach Jean Tigana is flying to China this week and should sign a contract on Sunday with Shanghai Shenhua, the new club of Premier League star Nicolas Anelka, a spokesman told AFP Thursday.

The official said the ex-Fulham and Monaco boss will arrive in the eastern Chinese metropolis on Saturday, and is expected to put pen to paper the following day.

"Tigana will land Shanghai this Saturday for the final round of talks about the contract," the spokesman said. "Barring unforeseen circumstances, we will sign the contract on the next day and Tigana will see the press on Sunday."

Tigana would join Philippe Troussier as one of the highest-profile coaches in China's Super League, which is now spending big after years of scandal and a major match-fixing crackdown.

On Monday Anelka, 32, became the league's star recruit. Some reports have put his weekly wage at around $313,000, more than doubling his current pay at current club Chelsea, although Shanghai have disputed the figure.
