Navarro set for retirement

Veteran Sevilla defender Javi Navarro has revealed he is likely to retire after failing to recover from a long-running knee injury.

The 35-year-old centre-back has spent most of the last two seasons in the treatment room and has conceded that a fresh comeback is now unlikely.

"I have gone a year-and-a-half with minimal progress and even though in the last two weeks it has been a little better, I do not know if it will be good enough to play again," he said.

"I am growing closer to leaving football."

Navarro has made over 200 appearances for the Andalucian club during eight seasons at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
