Marseille move in for Fabiano

French champions Marseille have made an audacious bid to try and sign Sevilla's Brazil international striker Luis Fabiano.

The 29-year-old frontman, who scored three times for the Selecao at the World Cup finals in South Africa earlier this summer, had previously been a target for AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, recently he vowed to remain with the Primera Liga club, only for Marseille to move in to try and seal a big coup.

Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier told L'Equipe: "Fabiano is one of our goals and would strengthen Marseille dramatically. This is not an invention of the press.

"Fabiano is an objective that can allow Marseille to strengthen."
