Alves finally set for Barca

Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido has revealed that Daniel Alves is finally poised to sign for Barcelona following a protracted transfer saga.

The Brazil international wing-back had been expected to join the Catalan club last summer until Sevilla had an 11th hour change of heart and decided to keep him at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

But Alves is now set to sign for Barca on July 1 after the two clubs reached agreement on the future of the attacking full-back.

"If everything goes well he will say goodbye to the fans on Tuesday," Del Nido told AS.

"The deal is virtually closed. There are just a few details being finalised."
