Turner admits Hooper defeat

Hereford United manager Graham Turner has admitted that his club look to have missed out on the chance to sign Southend United striker Gary Hooper.
The 20-year-old helped the Bulls gain promotion to League One last season, scoring 12 goals in 19 games for United during an impressive loan stay.
However, after Turner agreed a price for a permanent switch, Southend placed Hooper on the transfer list and several other clubs have upped the ante.
Turner told his club's official website: "We agreed a fee with Southend and it looked more than likely to go through, but Gary went on holiday and in that time three other clubs made offers three times the amount that had been accepted.
"Naturally enough Southend looked at it and thought why should we accept that when we can get three times as much.
"It looks likely that we are going to lose Gary, it's moved into the realms of transfer fees that we can't get involved in."
