Taylor links up with Iron

Scunthorpe United have signed well-travelled striker Robert Taylor on non-contract terms.

The 31-year-old forward has been without a club since being released by Grimsby Town in November.

Taylor started his career as a trainee at Norwich and went on to make his name at Leyton Orient, Brentford and Gillingham before winning a big-money move to Manchester City.

However, he spent less than a year at Maine Road before moving to Wolves in a £1.55million deal in August 2000.

After just five starts for the club, Taylor was released at the end of last season and has played just one first-team game during the current campaign, for the Mariners in the goalless draw with Bradford City last August.
