Sharp starts Canaries talks
20 Jun 2007 - 13:53:30
Scunthorpe United have allowed Billy Sharp to open talks with Norwich City about a possible transfer to Carrow Road.
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties outside the Premiership after netting 56 goals in only 95 appearances for the Iron and his goals were imperative as the club won promotion to the Championship last term.
"We've given Billy permission to go and talk to Norwich," confirmed Scunthorpe chairman Steve Wharton.
"Norwich have had a £2million bid on the table for some time - and want to be sure that Billy wants to join them before pursuing their interest further.
"They've offered £2million but they know we're looking for add-ons to that which could take the price to near the £3million mark if they're promoted to the Premiership."
