Sharp gunning for record

Scunthorpe United striker Billy Sharp has set his sights on setting a new club scoring record during the remaining two matches of the season.

The Iron hot-shot has already bagged 31 goals this season and moved level with club legend Barrie Thomas' scoring record set in the 1960s by netting in the 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers last weekend.

United face Blackpool and Carlisle United in their remaining two fixtures and Sharp is now looking to claim the record outright.

"He was a legend at the club and to equal his record is special for me," Sharp told the club's official website.

"With two games to go if I can get one goal I'll have the record to myself, but I'm just going to enjoy myself now.

"We'll try to win both games obviously, but It'll be a real party atmosphere now."
