Scunthorpe United 1 Sheffield Wednesday 0

Published: 24 Jul 2010 - 18:11:34

Jonathan Forte scored the only goal of the game as Scunthorpe defeated Sheffield Wednesday in a low-key friendly at Glanford Park. His first-half goal - his third of pre-season - was the highlight of a match where the main talking point was the absence of Gary Hooper from the playing field, as a move away from the club now seems almost certain. Forte had one of the better chances to double the Iron's lead just before the break when he hit a shot straight at the Owls keeper Richard O'Donnell, though that came after Marcus Tudgay had seen a header hit the crossbar. Second-half chances fell to Forte, Chris Dagnall Rob Jones and Martyn Woolford but none caused much distress to the Owls keeper as the game petered out.
