Scunthorpe hoping to beat freezing conditions
Scunthorpe are aiming to beat the big freeze and ensure Saturday's home game against Nottingham Forest goes ahead as scheduled.
North Lincolnshire has been badly affected by the icy conditions during the past week and the Glanford Park pitch is currently covered in snow.
General manager David Beeby told the club's official website: "There's a covering of snow on the pitch that is about a foot deep. With the freezing temperatures we feel it will be best to leave that on as long as possible.
"We've had temperatures lower than minus 15 in the last couple of days, and our frost sheets would only protect the pitch to minus four.
"So in this case it's better to leave the snow on. We're expected to have warmer temperatures towards the end of the week so once we get to Friday we will try and remove all the snow and see what the pitch is like underneath."
