Scunny extend defender's stay

Scunthorpe United have tied up the long-term future of defender Andrew Wright after he signed a new deal with Glanford Park outfit.

The 25-year-old has made 48 appearances in his two years with the club and despite being out with an ankle injury, manager Nigel Adkins has made the move to extend his stay.

The former Liverpool youth player signed for the Iron after impressing for West Virginia University in America.

His contract was due to expire in the summer but he will stay with Championship side until the summer of 2012.
