Red cards annoy Adkins

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins was unhappy with the referee's decision to send two of his players off as The Iron held on to draw 1-1 at Coventry City.

Goalkeeper Joe Murphy was sent off at the start of the second half, while Kelly Youga was dismissed in the closing stages for a second bookable offence.

Adkins said: "As a former goalkeeper myself, it's a bug-bear for me when they're sent off for bringing a player down inside the box.

"I believe it should be a penalty and nothing more otherwise you're punished twice.

"Kelly is enthusiastic and I suppose that after the referee had booked him earlier, he was left with no choice but to send him off because that was probably a booking.

"However, I think the first yellow card was a bit harsh."
