Raynes ready for relegation fight
Published : 25 Jan 2011 14:30:05

Scunthorpe defender Michael Raynes is hopeful that the point gained at home to Burnley can be the springboard for the club`s survival battle. The Iron have only secured one win from their last 10 league matches and remain second-bottom of the Championship - three points from safety. However, Raynes says the 0-0 draw against the play-off chasing Clarets on Saturday providing some reasons for optimism, not least a first clean sheet in five games. He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I think we did well to keep a clean-sheet. We have conceded a heck of a lot of goals, which has been very disappointing from our point of view, so the fact we kept a clean-sheet means we can push on from there."We have set ourselves a benchmark now in terms of work-rate. Hopefully this result is going to be our turning point."
