Pearce joins up with Iron

Scunthorpe United have signed Krystian Pearce from Birmingham City on loan following the loss of several defenders to injury and suspension.

The England Under-19 international has joined the League One side on an initial one-month basis.

He will fill the void created by injuries to Kenny Milne, Andy Crosby and Izzy Iriekpen, plus David Mirfin's suspension.

"I found out that they were interested a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't come to the club until Monday," he told the club's official website.

"I was in the gym at Birmingham at the time and (academy manager) Terry Westley came in and had a chat with me saying that Scunthorpe had made an offer."
