Newcastle have no Hooper interest

Published: 22 Jul 2010 - 16:34:07

Chris Hughton, the Newcastle United manager, has ruled out a bid for the Scunthorpe forward Gary Hooper. The Magpies do not have a large budget to spend on strengthening their squad following promotion back to the Premier League. They have signed James Perch and Dan Gosling, but Hughton said many of the names linked with his club are wrong. "It's natural that we get linked with players but none of those names are accurate, there is nothing in the Gary Hooper rumour," he told The Journal. Hooper is one of the hottest properties in English football this summer, but United appear unwilling to sell him for less than £2.5million.
