Murphy accepts Iron fate

Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Joe Murphy has admitted that the Iron are all but certain to drop out of the Championship after their 1-0 weekend defeat at Leicester City.

The result left Scunny eight points adrift of safety, with just five games left to try and engineer a great escape.

Murphy told the Evening Telegraph: "Anything can happen in football and we've still got to keep looking at that fourth-bottom position.

"We've got to keep fighting because we've still got things to play for here.

"Players are playing for places, playing for pride and playing for Scunthorpe and we've got to do that until the end of the season.

"We do want to get out of it. You want to do it for the club, the fans and yourself most importantly. We can't just jack it in now, we've got to keep going."
