Mirfin may return

Published: 05 Feb 2010 - 09:59:02

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins is expecting to have defender David Mirfin available for the visit of Crystal Palace. The centre-half came off at half-time of last week's impressive win at QPR with a hamstring injury and is yet to return to the training field.Adkins is confident of having Mirfin available, but new signing Michael Raynes, who joined from Stockport on Monday, is on standby to make his debut should Mirfin not make it.Fellow new signings Donal McDermott and Brendan Moloney had to make do with places on the bench at Loftus Road, although McDermott came on at the interval and could be pushing for a start.Andrew Wright is nursing an ankle injury and Niall Canavan has a knee problem. Although both men are close to a return to training, they will not be fit in time. The Iron will be hoping to claim a double over Neil Warnock's men after they sauntered to a 4-0 win at Selhurst Park in September.
