May injury boost for Iron
21 Jan 2009 - 14:45:54
Scunthorpe United have received a boost after discovering that striker Ben May will not require surgery on an ankle problem.
May could now be back in action in March despite initial estimates that he would miss the rest of the season after injuring ankle ligaments in the 2-1 win at Yeovil last week.
"We've got some good news regarding Ben May," manager Nigel Adkins told the club's official website.
"He went to see a surgeon on Monday and he's not going to require an operation.
"All being well, he's just going to have the standard rehabilitation for an ankle injury, which would probably mean him being out for six to eight weeks, rather than until the end of the season.
"That's great news for us as he has a big part to play between now and the end of the season in the two competitions we're fighting to win."
