Laws hails another step forward

Brian Laws said the Scunthorpe United players were buying into his way of working, after the Iron came from behind to win at Coventry.
Two goals from Leon Clarke, the first a penalty converted after a foul on him, moved the Iron up to 21st in the table - and a point behind the 20th-placs Sky Blues.
“It’s another step forward. We have scored another couple of goals, good goals and had another one disallowed, which shouldn’t have been," said Laws. “The referee said it was an infringement on the goalkeeper but when you look at it again there is no infringement, he is nowhere near him so I don’t know what he has seen. “It was a great display. A great display of organisation on the park and discipline, that’s what has been missing. “I don’t think anybody questions their ability because they can all play but it’s whether they can do the dirty bits and they weren’t doing that. Now they have seen the rewards. Players always buy into things when you get results. “When you get a good result, they buy into. When you get a second result, they buy into a bit more, then they get their belief. That’s coming back and we have got them smiling again.”
Mark Robins, the Coventry boss, was unhappy with the spot-kick given for a foul on Clarke by Richard Wood.
"The first one was harsh, but I also think we have to be better in terms of defending it because when the player on the ball has time you have to give ground and go with your runners," he said. “It gave them something, it gave them impetus. I couldn’t see them doing anything else to break them down. “The naivety of the defenders we have, at times, costs us goals and costs us points. If we had taken the chances that we created then we would have won, but we didn’t and their goalkeeper made two, maybe three, outstanding saves towards the end of the game. “It was a game we didn’t deserved to lose but we didn’t do enough to win.”
